Monk fruit, a member of the gourd family, thrives in cool, humid, and misty environments. It is predominantly cultivated in the southwestern regions of China, where conditions such as significant temperature fluctuations, a long frost-free period, and ample rainfall contribute to its growth. The commercial value of monk fruit is closely tied to professional cultivation techniques and management experiences, making every growth stage—from seedling to fruiting—crucial.
Soil Preparation: After weeding, sterilizing, and pest control, apply well-rotted organic fertilizer as a base. Recommended bed dimensions are 3.6 meters wide and 30 cm high, with 40 cm drainage ditches between beds. Create planting mounds with a diameter of 80 cm and a height of 10-20 cm.
Trellising: As monk fruit vines are long and hang from the trellis, it is essential to construct a sturdy support system. Maintain a post spacing of 2.4 m by 3 m to prevent collapse. The suggested height for the trellis is between 1.7 m and 1.9 m.
Seedling Cultivation: Start sowing seeds in March under a greenhouse, maintaining a temperature of 15-32°C and humidity around 70%. Seedlings should reach a thickness of at least 3 mm before transplanting.
Transplanting: Around April, when temperatures stabilize above 15°C, transplant the seedlings. Since monk fruit is dioecious, plant female and male seedlings in a 50:1 ratio to facilitate manual pollination. Apply necessary water-soluble fertilizers 5-7 days after planting.
Orchard Management:
1.Once seedlings reach 20 cm, select the thickest vine as the main stem, removing side shoots. Secure the main vine to the trellis and promptly remove all new growth from the base and leaf axils.
2.Fertilization should be light before flowering and heavier during the flowering period, using organic fertilizers combined with well-rotted farm manure.
3.Water management is critical: monk fruit prefers moist conditions but is sensitive to waterlogging and drought. Ensure proper drainage during the rainy season and adequate irrigation during dry spells.
4.As male flowers are not attractive to pollinators, manual pollination is necessary. Collect male flowers early in the morning and gently transfer pollen to the female flowers during optimal temperature conditions (22.5°C to 28.5°C).
5.To achieve high yields, focus on developing secondary vines and timely pruning to control the main vine.
6.Monitor for diseases such as white silk disease, bud rot, viral infections, and blight.
Harvesting: Typically, fruits begin to mature 75 days post-pollination. Harvest when the stems turn yellow, the skin becomes firm and elastic, and the fruit has a high content of mogrosides. After drying for 10-15 days, the fruits can be packaged and roasted at 70-80°C. Quality indicators include dryness, a brownish color, and a lack of decay.
The commercial quality and grade of monk fruit are generally categorized according to the circumference of the fruit's equatorial section as follows:
Extra Large Fruit: greater than 18 cm
Large Fruit: between 17.4 cm and 18 cm
Medium Fruit: between 16.5 cm and 17.4 cm
Small Fruit: between 14.1 cm and 16.5 cm
Substandard Fruit: less than 14.1 cm
Additionally, fruits that produce a sound when squeezed (known as "ringing fruit") will be classified one grade lower than their original classification. Damaged fruits will be assessed based on weight.

“东方神果”丰收:2024年绿蔓罗汉果种植经验分享
随着2024年罗汉果新产季的临近,绿蔓生物满怀喜悦与期待,准备迎接这一年度的丰收盛宴。在这片充满生机的田园之间,隐藏着一个个关于自然与科技的秘密,而这些秘密,正是蕴藏在每一颗饱满的果实之中。
罗汉果是一种喜阴凉、湿润多雾的葫芦科藤本植物。在昼夜温差大、无霜期长、雨水充沛的西南地区多有种植。可观的商业价值离不开专业的种植技术和管理经验,从种苗到结果,每一个生长节点都至关重要。
开垦起垄:土壤经过除草、消毒、杀虫后,可施以腐熟的农家肥作为基肥,起垄大小建议3.6m宽,30cm高,垄间留40cm排水沟,垄上起直径80cm,高10-20cm的种植堆。
搭棚:罗汉果藤苗较长,沿藤挂果,因此搭棚需结实牢固,桩间距2.4m*3m,避免后期垮棚现象。棚高建议1.7m-1.9m。
育苗炼苗:罗汉果每年3月份开始大棚种子育苗,保持棚内温度维持在15-32℃,湿度70%左右,并炼苗至新主茎3mm粗以上。
定植:每年4月份左右,气温回升并稳定在15℃以上方可定植。罗汉果为雌雄异株植物,为方便人工授粉,因此种植时需将雌、雄种苗按50:1比例分开种植。种植5-7d后再施所需水溶肥。
罗汉果苗种植结束后,果园管理需注意以下要点:
1、苗长至20厘米高后,选留最粗的一条做主蔓,其余的侧芽抹去,主蔓引绑上棚。生长过程中及时将棚架下所有萌芽(基部萌芽和主蔓叶腋芽)抹除。
2、期间施肥管理采取的施肥原则是“开花前少施、轻施,进入花期后应多施、重施,肥料以有机肥配合腐熟农家肥”。
3、水分管理:罗汉果喜湿润,忌积水,怕干旱。因此,在生长前期的4~6月梅雨季节,要注意排水,秋季干旱季节,必须抓好灌溉工作或进行叶面喷水。
4、雌雄异株的罗汉果,雄花不受蜜蜂等传粉昆虫喜爱,因此需人工授粉(点花)才能结果。雄花应在早晨6~7点前微开时采收,集中装在有盖的杯里,待雄花开放时用毛笔笔头轻刮雄花花粉,使花粉在毛笔上,然后轻轻涂抹雌花柱头上。点花时间段需选在气温22.5℃~28.5℃罗汉果花朵开放的时间,温度过高,花朵闭合,点花成果率降低。
5、罗汉果的主要结果蔓为二、三级侧蔓,因此要获得高产,必须培养好二、三级侧蔓,适时摘心控制主蔓,合理修剪,减少无效蔓叶。
6、病虫害管理主要防止白绢病、芽枯病、病毒病和疫病。
适时采摘:一般在开花授粉75天后果实开始陆续成熟,当果柄变黄色,果皮硬有弹性,逐渐转黄,绒毛多,有光泽,果实罗汉果甜苷V含量高,即为成熟果,方可采收。晾放10~15天发汗后便可装箱上炕,在70~80℃的温度下烘烤。罗汉果干果质量以足干、棕褐色、捏之不响、无烂果、味甜者为佳。按果实中部围径大小,商品质量规格等级一般分为:特大果(围径18cm以上)、大果(围径17.4cm~18cm)、中果(围径16.5cm~17.4cm)、小果(围径14.1cm~16.5cm)、等外果(围径14.1cm以下) 而响果(捏之有响声)按原级的下一级处理,破果则以重量计。
